Welcome to Roman Catholic Television: the hub site for
emerging Canadian Catholic Internet TV channels.
Along with our two founding partners, Pontifical Missions Societies
(worldmissiontv.ca) and the Redemptorists of Canada (redemptorist.tv),
Scarboro Missions TV (scarboromissionstv.com) has been added to the line-up
with videos and lessons plans that represent some of the great work Scarboro
Missions Society does today, building on the extraordinary history and
vision of its founder, Fr. John Fraser, who began the Society in 1918.
Our fourth partner KateriTV (kateritv.com; initiated by the Building Bridges
Project, Standing Committee on Aboriginal affairs, Assembly of Western Catholic Bishops) presents its first program with eleven more to follow over
the coming weeks and months. Kateri TV explores the Aboriginal part of the
Roman Catholic Church in Canada, its great contribution to the Church, and
the new trends in ministry as Aboriginal Catholics take on leadership roles
within their communities.
Pontifical Missions Societies (PMS) has added ten new programs based on
missionary endeavours funded by PMS in India, Zambia and South Africa. And the Redemptorists are working on several new additions to their excellent presentations on Eucharist and Christian Family Life to be released in late Fall 2012.
It's all part of a new effort to assist Canada's Roman Catholic community to become a part of the internet TV era and to assist Catholic education with easy (and free) access to topical, high-quality stories and teachings from the heart of the Roman Catholic community in Canada, coast to coast, north
to south.
The great advantage for the educational community will be the 24-7 access to
made-in-Canada Catholic teaching and experiences. No longer does a teacher
have to record a TV program that may be broadcasting at an awkward hour. The
need for DVDs and VCRs is also diminishing. The videos are all there,
on-line and ready for viewing, quarter-sized or full screen. And the
programs are also available on DVD at cost.
Our hope is that our service ties in well with the way people like to learn these days: an experiential start via a good video, some research questions
and study guides to initiate further exploration and the follow-up suggestion to relate the outcomes to deeper involvements in one's everyday spiritual life.
So take a look and go on the journey!
