The goal of program nine is to help Canadians understand the political agenda behind the celebration of war and how peace-making comes much closer to historical definitions of what it means to be Canadian.



1. Show the video "Program Nine: PeaceQuest"


2. Ask students to form small groups to describe the following impressions from the video:

  • What is PeaceQuest?
  • What are the 4 streams of PeaceQuest?
  • How do you actively live out peace?
  • How should WWI be remembered?


3. Option for Take-Home Assignment. Using the internet, find more facts about:

  • United Nation's International Day of Peace
  • Peace Initiatives in your community.
  • How to support PeaceQuest.
  • How Canadian Catholics can support the work of Sisters of Providence.
